Uganda Medical Association.
Is a national professional medical body for all the medical practitioners in Uganda. It was founded in 1964 as a branch of the British Medical Association, to provide a forum for medical doctors to promote the health profession, their interests, and quality of health care in Uganda.
UMA is a member of the World Medical Association (WMA), the Common Wealth Medical Association (CMA) and the Federation of East Africa Medical and Dental Association (FEMDA). It is affiliatedto the British Medical Association (BMA), the Danish Medical Association (DMA)and is full member of the confederation of the African Medical Association and Societies (CAMAS).It enjoys good working relationships with associations of nursing and allied health professionals. It also has a well-established representation in each district; coordinate through regional braches upcountry in Arua, Fortpotal, Gulu, Hoima, Mbale, Kabale, Mbarara, Entebbe, Jinja and masaka.
OBJECTIVES
- To promote the medical and allied sciences.
- To promote and maintain the honour and inte
rests of the Medical Profession and Society in Uganda.
- To promote and maintain a high standard of professional ethics among members of the Medical profession.
- To do all such lawful things as may be incidental or conducive to the promotion or carrying out of the foregoing objectives or any of them
VISION STATEMENT:
A prestigious UMA contributing to the well being of its members and health of Ugandan communities.
MISSION STATEMENT:
To provide a forum for medical doctors to promote their interests and quality care for Ugandans. This is done through training research technical assistance/ consultancies, advocacy, good governance and collaboration with other stakeholders.
